Next year will be different for Surfers Church- for good. Let me share some developments & challenges. Full Time Local Leader I have resigned my full time paid job at North Ryde Anglican Church. From 2007, Surfers’ Church will be my job- my lifework. My family & I return as local residents by 13th January. Management Our last Advisory Board meeting, & additionally the Sydney Diocese, recommended that Maroubra Surfers’ Church be managed by Church Army Australia. I will continue as a licensed Minister in the Anglican Church of Australia, becoming an employee of Church Army. This means that all money, insurances, & ancillaries, will be carefully managed with full integrity. It also means that Steve & the team of leaders & trainees can be free for the evangelism & edification of others. Training Already I have trained our long-term members in “Mission Minded”. Church Army has trained our core team of leaders- myself, Fiona, Paul, Hannah, Mel, Dannie & Stacey- with initial Base of Evangelism training (Base Jumping). In 2007, the Base Jumping process continues for our leaders. Currently, Steve is half-way through training our team in the initial phase of “Faithfulness In Service: A National Code of Conduct”. Next year, Steve & others will train appropriate members in evangelism, Bible teaching, small group leadership, & church management.
